Use the CRTL key on keyboard and click the mouse button. Hyperlinks in word documents is a great way to create an interactive document.

Also allows for the easy creation of a chat box that can be embedded into any web page or blog so users can easily chat with you. Feel free to chat with me anytime... my Meebo ID is iractive on my blog page, just click the link about that is labelled IRACTIVE Blog RSS Feeds & Readers: For more about RSS, see http://www.commoncraft.com/rss_plain_english Google Reader ( www.google.com/reader ) - This is the main tool I use to organize and keep up with my RSS feeds from the various blogs I read. RSS Survival Tip: Don't be afraid to declare an amnesty day if you get behind on your blog reading. Some blogs publish more than you can possibly read and you will quickly pile up a dozens of entries that have yet to be read. Use the headlines to help skip over entries that don't interet you. And if you get really behind, just mark them all as "Read" and start fresh tomorrow! FeedlerRSS ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/feeddler-rss-reader-for-ipad/id364873582?mt=8 ) - This is the tool I use on my iPad that makes reading the many blogs I follow a snap! iGoogle ( www.google.com/ig ) - This tool by Google can turn your browser homepage into Information Central. It has hundreds of widgets for all kinds of tasks and whims. I use one for the Google Reader that lists my RSS feeds. Photo Sharing: Flickr ( www.flickr.com ) - The world's largest photo sharing site. Picasa ( picasaweb.google.com ) - A similar site run by Google... I find it very easy to use. Facebook ( www.facebook.com ) - The most likely place you will share photos. Video & Podcasts: For more on podcasts, see http://www.commoncraft.com/podcasting YouTube ( www.youtube.com ) - The world's largest video sharing site. There is some great stuff out there. Take a look at the TED channel for presentations on cool new technologies. http://www.youtube.com/user/TEDtalksDirector Link Sharing & Tagging: Delicious ( www.delicious.com ) - A fantastic tool that allows you to bookmark web sites, tag them with words you choose, and then utilize those bookmarks without being tied to a specific computer. Google Bookmarks ( www.google.com/bookmarks ) - a similar tool that was created by Google Jing ( http://www.techsmith.com/jing ) - A great tool that allows you to share screenshots via a link. Very handy. Social Networking: Facebook ( www.facebook.com ) - THE social networking site for the English speaking world. Twitter ( www.twitter.com ) - a microblogging site that allows users to post entries using 140 characters or less. Goodreads (www.goodreads.com ) - a social networking site all about books. LinkedIn ( www.linkedin.com ) - a social networking site for professional connections. FourSquare ( www.foursquare.com ) - Part game, part social networking, this site combines physical presence and location with the concept of social networking. Skype ( www.skype.com ) - a free Voice over IP communication service. An excellent substitute for long distance phone calls. Also allows for video chat and screen sharing. My personal favorite of the many wiki programs I have used. Wikipedia ( www.wikipedia.org ) - We all use it. All the time. Imperial Wiki ( http://stardestroyer.net/mrwong/wiki/index.php/Main_Page ) - A wiki dedicated to Star Wars...an example that you can create a wiki on any topic. Google Docs ( docs.google.com ) - a fully-functional document creation tool that allows for the creation and storage of documents entirely on the web. Dropbox ( www.dropbox.com ) - a web-based storage space for uploading files making transfer to other computers simple and efficient. Evernote ( www.evernote.com ) - a note-taking and storage tool that allows for the creation of notes in a variety of formats that can be organized, tagged, and easily searched and retrieved. Notes can be created an accessed via the web, your phone, or a client software installed on your desktop. SimpleNote ( http://simplenoteapp.com/ ) - A similar tool as Evernote, but for text-only notes. Very fast & handy. Other great cloud-based tools: Prezi ( www.prezi.com ) - A presentation tool that allows you to break away from the linear-based slides of PowerPoint. Cacoo ( www.cacoo.com ) - A web-based diagram tool that allows for collaborative development. Very cool. |
